Barbados Leads Caribbean in Effective use of ICT The World Economic Forum, released the, Network Readiness Index for 2015, and it made for some surprising reading. Of the 143 countries in the Index, Barbados ranked 39th, behind Chile but ahead of Kazakhstan. The index is seen as a measure of how effectively the country has used technology to deliver economic and social impact. Barbados was joined by Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Guyana and the Dominican Republic in the top 100 countries, with Haiti ranked 137th. Sadly, the OECS wasn't represented in the index. St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):  The St. Kitts Music Festival continues to make the promotion local artistes a priority organizers say, even as they work to balance their appearances with those of regional and international acts needed to draw visitors to the Federation. Created under the Ministry of Tourism as a vehicle to promote the destination, particularly during the off-season, the Festival is also designed to give local acts outside exposure. St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):  The Department of Agriculture continues to address challenges facing the local industry's efforts to regularly supply produce to the hospitality sector.  Marketing Officer with the Agriculture Department Tom Buchanan acknowledges though that reliability of supply has long been a complaint coming from hotels and restaurants. Mr. Buchanan says reliability issues are largely due to the seasonality of crops and the proximity to a water supply. St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):  As the end of the Tourism season approaches, Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry Dianielle Taylor-Williams says the off-season provides the perfect opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season. The Ministry and Tourism Authority use the time to focus on training, and host and collaborate on off-season events like the Music Festival and Restaurant Week as a means of boosting the sector during the traditionally slow period. St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN):  A week after a wave of concern rippled through the St. Kitts cruise industry over word that the Carnival Liberty would be making a weekly Friday call to Dominica, Dominica's Tourism Ministry is announcing a change of plans.
